I’ve just finished reading a blog entry about a fast food chain in the U.S. that prints bible verse references in its food packaging, at the same time as offering (on demand, it’s not on the menu), the “20 x 20″; a hamburger with twenty (yes, twenty!!) beef patties, and twenty slices of cheese! (Have a look at the picture in the blog entry: you’ll be eating nothing but green salads for a week!). This menu entry raises violating Leviticus to an absolutely pornographic level.
This is truly a breathtaking example of hypocrisy — part of Christianity is a commitment to stewardship, and respect for the world’s resources. Such conspicuous consumption, and the inevitable wastage, flies in the face of this belief, by demonstrating a fundamental disrespect for the bounty that is creation.
